Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has had a cooperation office in the Moldovan capital since 2000. Since 2017, regular political consultations between Switzerland and the Republic of Moldova have allowed for a broad exchange of views.
These discussions cover bilateral relations in development, migration, and economic cooperation matters and cooperation in the multilateral sphere.
Helvetas is an independent organization for development based in Switzerland. Helvetas supports poor and disadvantaged communities in about thirty developing and transition countries in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Helvetas tackles global challenges at various levels: with projects on the ground, with expert advice, and by advocating for conducive framework conditions. Helvetas follows a multi-stakeholder approach by linking civil society actors, governments, and the private sector.
OPTIM is a market systems development (MSD) project, at the center of which is a good understanding of the systemic constraints of the economy, engagement, and partnerships with systems actors and interventions aiming at scalable results.
The beneficiaries are women and men, particularly those from excluded groups (youth, returning migrants, ethnic minorities) and those living outside the capital Chisinau.
Phase I of OPTIM Project started in 2019. To allow the project to support sustainable change, the whole duration of the project is planned for 10 to 12 years.
