Strengthening Moldova’s Fruit Sector: A Strategic Partnership Between Helvetas and Moldova Fruit Association
In a significant step towards advancing Moldova’s agricultural potential, Helvetas Moldova has partnered with the Moldova Fruit Association (MFA) to enhance the capabilities of the fruit sector in a rapidly evolving market. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to equipping local producers with tools, knowledge, and strategies to thrive in the European Union's competitive markets.

The partnership will focus on creating and developing models to integrate small fruit producers into the markets by associating them with professional exporters. This involves developing group certification models with Global GAP, standardizing production, and linking producers to distribution channels. These efforts aim to achieve sustainable access to the EU market for Moldova’s small and medium producers.
Advocacy and lobbying will also play a pivotal role in this partnership, ensuring Moldova’s fruit sector aligns with EU regulations and adapts to the demands of climate change. Through a revised strategy, the Moldova Fruit Association is set to enhance its role as a key actor, providing impactful services to its members and fostering gender inclusion.
"This partnership is about more than economic development," said Bojan Kolundzija, Team Leader at Helvetas Moldova. "It’s about building resilience, promoting innovation, and creating opportunities for Moldovan producers to expand their reach and showcase the quality of their work on a global scale."
Helvetas Moldova and the Moldova Fruit Association are confident that their combined efforts will not only strengthen the fruit sector but also contribute to a modernized, competitive agricultural landscape in Moldova. Together, they aim to empower local producers to embrace change, innovate, and grow—both individually and as part of a larger, resilient community.
