The Technical University of Moldova (TUM) will have a Center for Intelligent Agriculture (CoSA) – a project aimed at modernizing the agricultural sector by integrating advanced technologies. The partnership was formalized on 31st of October with the signing of a Cooperation Protocol and a Grant Agreement, marking a milestone for Moldovan agriculture.

The grant agreements, amounting to 80,000 EUR from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and 200,000 USD offered by the USAID support the endowment of CoSA with state-of-the-art laboratories, in particular with drones and intelligent irrigation systems, which will facilitate the access of farmers, students and specialists to innovative digital solutions. These technologies have the potential to transform the way farming is done, thereby contributing to increased productivity and sustainability.

Through close collaboration between TUM, OPTIM and Competitiveness and Rural Resilience (PCRR), the Center for Intelligent Agriculture will become a meeting point for academia, the private sector and the agricultural community. PCRR contributes resources for educational equipment and materials, and OPTIM supports links with the private sector and promotes the educational programs of the center. The partners have joined efforts to create learning and professional development opportunities that meet the growing needs for digitalization in agriculture.

"The creation of the Smart Agriculture Center is an essential step for the future of Moldovan agriculture, uniting education and innovation in a project designed to support the agricultural sector so that it becomes more efficient and competitive," said the rector of TUM, Mr. Viorel Bostan. “We are proud to have partners who support this vision and contribute to the transformation of the agricultural reality.”

This strategic partnership represents a collaboration model that will stimulate the development of new technological solutions and will significantly contribute to the modernization of agriculture in the Republic of Moldova.
